Embu County has successfully completed the distribution of pharmaceutical and non pharmaceutical supplies to all public health facilities for Quarter Three, covering the period January to March. The distribution was finalized ahead of schedule, ensuring uninterrupted service delivery across the county.
This achievement reflects a well coordinated procurement system, accurate data driven forecasting, and the strong leadership of Her Excellency Honorable Cecily M. Mbarire, EGH, Governor of Embu County. The administration continues to place healthcare at the centre of service delivery, treating it as a public good that must be protected at all times.
The countyโs performance has received national recognition. According to the 2025 National Logistics Management Information System Performance Report, Embu County was ranked second nationally for overall performance in healthcare supply chain management. This recognition affirms the countyโs commitment to accountability, efficiency, and consistent medicine availability in public health facilities.
Medicine availability in Embu health facilities is supported by structured and deliberate systems. The county works closely with government approved suppliers, KEMSA and MEDS, and maintains a departmental target of a ninety five percent fill rate to ensure essential medicines are consistently available. Facilities are also guided by level based compliance, meaning each health facility stocks medicines approved for its designated service level in line with national regulations. In addition, facilities such as Kianjokoma, Kiritiri, and Gategi Level Three hospitals, together with all Level Four and Level Five hospitals, operate direct procurement accounts to allow faster and more responsive restocking based on actual demand.
